PROFIT IS NOT THE BOTTOM LINE?

Think about that one.

Almost everything you read regarding successful marketing
online is really focused on making money...Profitably...

RIGHT?

And all that hype is aimed at our greed for making more
money. Every product, service, idea I have either dreamed
up or come across is sold on the premise of how much
money can I make with this.

This often leads us down the path of regret. It isn't all
about the MONEY!

I ran across this principle this past week...at a hamburger
joint. Not just any hamburger place, it is THE place
in Colorado Springs to get a hamburger.

It's called Conway's Red Top and if you live here you know
what I am talking about.

Now despite the fact that I am lowering my carb intake (with
great success actually), I decided after climbing the Manitou
Incline, (and burning what I believe was a year's worth a carbs)
I could think of no better way to celebrate than enjoy a
burger from Red Top!

You see, this place serves a hamburger that lives up to its
billing, "One's a meal." And proof that there are few as
good is the fact the business has been in business since
1944!

So while I was waiting for my order, I was reading (like I
always do), the plaque in the take out area about the
business' history. The Conway's father started working
there as a young man and when it went up for sale, he
bought it.

That was 1957. And they are still going stronger than ever.

In one of the articles written about the father and his
success, he had pointed out that his number 1 principle
he had built the business with was:

Profit is not the bottom line. The bottom line is turning
CUSTOMERS into CLIENTS.

Find your work in your passion, work hard, and build
a base of customers/clients with integrity.

Now that's something to think about.

Shortage of time!!

Finally got some new stuff on the web site.

It had been 2 weeks (?). I added a pictorial of Garden of the
Gods
. Taking the pics was the easy part. I went out about 9 A.M.
and was home uploading them to the cpu by noon.

(That included stopping by for another hamburger from Red Top!)
I am not lying.

It then took me the rest of the afternoon to get the page
constructed and everything working! I know I will get more
efficient, but if there is one thing I have learned, there is
never enough time.

Next step is getting the Manitou Incline feature written and
uploaded to the site.

Niche Market Ideas

I have recently read more about using niche markets and how
they are the key to a successful means of marketing online.

I have niche marketing in mind as I develop my site OurSprings.com.

For a thought provoking article on this, visit a sight
by John Hocking about ebook marketing. He has a variety
of interesting and informative articles written by numerous
writers. I was reading one about a guy that has written
an ebook on how to teach your parrot to talk.

Here is what struck me. Your challenge is in first finding
a SPECIFIC...not small..market. One where there is passion
within the individuals in that market. I live with an African
Grey parrot (those who have a parrot understand you don't
own them) and know that there is a lot of passion and
interest in those having these pets.

The person who put the info together about how to teach
your parrot to talk has the interest of a ready made, interested
group of people. The author for this guide wants to duplicate
other appealing products to specific, niche centered markets.

I think this makes sense. I am going to continue studying
the use of this concept. There is plenty of info about what
many call the mini-site and its use. Seems like most up to
this point have used it primarily to market to those with
original ideas.

In other words, FEW are actually marketing a unique product
they themselves have created. MOST are selling you the how
you would go about doing it. You know, set up your site,
gather your visitor's emails, write a newsletter to follow-up,
build repoire, building directed traffic, ad naseum.

But it seems many of these same people have not really
created something original.

I know that I could take the affiliate approach solely. Many
are doing just this and doing well. I do like the affiliate
model and will use it.

But only working the affiliate approach is too unfulfilling.
Not very exciting as well!

I am looking at ways I can continue to develop this focus
of niche appeal with oursprings.com and am very intrigued
with the potential of finding specific market opportunities.

I think it is the way to go...At least at this point!

The Numbers are Down...

...and it's a GOOD thing!

The Alexa rating for the site has now dropped to 729,752,
down from 890,326 a week ago and down from the
start at 2,121,394. I have no idea what I am doing right.

Sort of. I know I must continue to add new stuff and
I really need to get the dead links active...or remove them.

Next New addition

I am hoping to have things that will appeal to a visitor's
desire to come back. So with that in mind, I am thinking
of adding a picture of the Colorado Springs area
every week or so at this time.

See the one I took today at sunrise of Colorado Springs'
famous landmark, Pikes Peak.

I will call it something like OurView...and encourage
community participation by asking them to submit
their "View" for display.

Any suggestions/feedback? Let me have it here!
