Being a Bad American

I saw in a local small town publication an article entitled, "Yes, I am a Bad American." It was credited to George Carlin. I strongly agreed with a lot of the statements in the story.

I had left the paper at home and so I did a google search for it and found it quite popular. While finding it online was no problem, I did find that it was NOT by George Carlin.

Anyway, it's pretty sad that being in agreement of the following would make you a BAD American.

Here are some of the selections I find most relative to me:

* I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid-level governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican.

* I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer. It makes you a smart American. (I don't own a gun, but will some day.)

* I believe if you are selling me a Big Mac, try to do it in English.

* I think fireworks should be legal on the 4th of July.

* I believe it doesn't take a village to raise a child. It takes two parents.

* I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized and does not entitle you to anything.

* I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste time arguing about it.

* Why the hell do I have to press 1 for English?

Well, there are a few more and a couple I would not agree with. But it does make you think about what direction the country is going and if it continues, what is it going to look like in a few short years.

Hey --

Appreciate your visit. I can assure you there is no racism involved here .. but I believe in pledging allegiance to the UNITED States of America. And THAT is a real problem today ...
