Everydaywealth Decision coming soon

What a week. I think I have learned something new every single
day this past week.

First, I found that this blog had been found by an aol search by
someone looking for the pros and cons of EverydayWealth, the
affiliate I have marketed. I was really amazed that my blog ranked
on the first page of returns for that kind of a search!

Now I haven't really said much about EDW since I mentioned it
in one of my early entries. Mostly because I am going to make
an important decision...SOON..about whether I plan to continue
with marketing the service.

I stated from the beginning that one of the promises I made to
myself regarding what I would write here is that I would NOT hype,
BS, or deceive anyone in any way.

And with regard to EDW, there are some changes being made
with the program that, depending on how it shakes out, I don't
think are ones I would be comfortable supporting. One of the
initial things that had really attracted me to the service as a
vehicle for marketing (beyond the fact the service itself was
great/innovative/fair) was how simple and affordable it was!

Well, it seems the old school networkers weren't happy because
it was taking them TOO LONg to make big money. The EverydayGuy
translation: They are greedy and they don't care about the average,
everyday person. They want a quick hit and then move on.

So it appears the company is adding these enhancements...
basically it boils down to adding more cost for Joe public to
initially subscribe to the service, thus falsely increasing the
commission upfront for these so called heavy hitters! Note:
This is my opinion and I am calling it like I see it.

These new enhancements are to be officially announced soon.
Thus I will be making my decision soon.

And if I decide to withdraw my efforts with the company, I
will email all of those that chose to partner with me based
on my personal recommendation and let them know what
I am doing. It is only fair.

My private forum for the readers of this blog is set up
specifically for things of this nature. If you are looking for
my feedback, know that I am not going to feed you a
line of crap in the name of making a buck, or even two.
It's not worth it to me. It is enough of a challenge keeping
a clear conscience without adding more to it!

The forum is always open...LOL -- even if it is 2 AM...those
online marketers should relate to that marketing line.
(That one really does not bother me.)

So for what it is worth, if you want to tawlk to me?! You want
to know an EverydayGuy's opinion? See me at the forum.

The POWER of focus

Questions...comments...feedback...Go HERE

What is the greatest barrier to successful progress?

Have you ever thought about what keeps you from being successful?

Let's make a list:

Negative attitudes...stinkin' thinkin'...discouragement...weak self-confidence
...other's opinions...criticism...money -- too little or too much
...education -- too little or to much...IQ...the list goes on.

Reality check. I think I have seen or read of people that overcame
each of the above. They made it (and I am not just referring to
monetary gain) DESPITE their obstacles. As a matter of fact,
they often did not recognize the obstacle until someone on the
outside looking in pointed it out to them.

But there is another, less identified factor, I think, that often
keeps one from moving positively forward...HYPE.

And I really hate this one. I know it has hurt a lot of people,
myself included.

I was thinking about this. Hype is a killer of one's progress,
isn't it? I think hype is nothing but deceivement. Worse, we
all fall for it out of greed.

Hype wastes our time by taking us off course. And falling
for it certainly can drain our finances.

I am not against exciting promotion or creative things that
make our ventures more appealing. But tell it like it is...
with creativity, not deceivement.

Hype is a great barrier to moving forward.

Which brings me to FOCUS

While spending time online and trying to avoid the hype,
I read a comment in a forum that referred to Anthony
Robbin's book Awaken the Giant Within.

Your focus is your reality.

Isn't this true.

I am learning that when things are not going as smoothly
as I'd like, or I find myself feeling frustrated, discouraged...
if I only change my focus, my feelings and direction changes.

Try it.

The hardest part, though, is the last thing I feel
like doing is changing my focus when I most need to.

I realize the need to increase my awareness of the things
going on around me and be cognizant of how they are affecting
my attitude. Its about being stronger and not allowing your
surroundings to have control over you.

A half million

I finished the first article for the website on our areas
best known landmark, Pikes Peak. I am attempting to
add content each week so that by June things are
in place to add an important component to the site.
More on that later in the coming months.

Now here is the interesting part. I shared that the site
debut was a far car from google's top ten. To be exact,
it was at page rank 2,121,394.

By adding that one page, the ranking moved forward
571,716 positions! (presently at 1,609,678) BTW, I
these numbers are from the Alexa tool bar.

Today brings a number of things to do. Working on
adding links that connect from the home page, starting
new content for a couple more pages, patiently learning
a little bit more about Paint Shop Pro 8....

Just have to remember to watch my FOCUS...

Wednesday Update

Questions...comments...feedback...Do it here!

My website continues to chug along at a pace that almost
rivals the speed at which I post entries in this blog. My
perfectionist attitudes have again surfaced as I am not
happy with the design. But what can I do. My very
limited knowledge of html keeps me from having the
look I want.

I continue to remind myself that what is most important
is continuing to MOVE forward by taking action. I will
just continue to make changes one thing at a time.

My plan is to add at least one new article/story/item
each week. If I had my way I would add something
new EVERYDAY! Just two minor obstacles keep me
from this...TIME and KNOWLEDGE!

Today I must try to find the artist of a downtown
piece of art and write the story behind it.

I also plan to cover the St. Baldericks event here in the
Springs on March 19th. The purpose of this organization
is to raise $$ for children with cancer..by having volunteers
shave their heads! I admire the efforts. It is a hard thing
to understand when life takes a cruel turn on kids.

Check out the history of what seems to be a decent,
new charity with an important goal here.

Sunday Morning Housecleaning...

OurSprings.com, the web site I am creating about living in
Colorado Springs, is starting to take shape. There were so many obstacles
that presented themselves to me and slowed me down. But things are in
a forward moving gear now.

Content is a priority and today I will get some kind of basic template
together to use for the articles. Planning to put up two today! The
first one being a general description of the Springs, and the other
an article about the city's most famous site...Pike's Peak.

The Our Springs page has been indexed by google! I have read
that Google has indexed 1,326,920,000 web pages. Over a billion!
I am here to announce my sight has debut at number....are you
ready?

2,121,394!!!

Yes faithful readers, that is correct. For my mathematically challenged
friends, that is placement of two million, one hundred twenty-one
thousand, three hundred ninety-four!

I am just excited it was found!

And I like the fact that I have a benchmark to work from. It
is my goal to have the sight show up with a google search for
Colorado Springs on the first page.

I did a search for Colorado Springs and there are over 4,290,000
pages that are found for the word Colorado Springs. The first
5 returns are:

1. Colorado Springs Convention Center
2. The Gazette...the city's newspaper
3. City of Colorado Springs homepage
4. Colorado Springs.com -- a web portal to hundreds of links
5. the Pike's Peak cam

These are my targets.

I used a really cool tool that allows you to see where your sight
ranks in the search results. It is called google rankings.

The problem is it only indexes the page results up to 1,000.
Needless to say that with over 4 million present possibilities,
I have no idea where my site's current listing may be found.

So I have an offer you can't refuse.

It is an exclusive offer for the readers
of the Peak Income Blog only!!

If you have nothing better to do or you hear your teenager
say for the 50th time he or she is bored, find the page ranking
for Our Springs in google.

For the winner I will buy you lunch. LOL Really.

I am anxious to see when and if I can crack the top 1,000
for the search term Colorado Springs...let alone the first page.

If you are still READING....

I have something you really will enjoy!

I am not much of a movie go-er. And even more true is that
very few movies I find are any good.

But here is an exception. Go rent the movie RADIO!

I will only say it is inspiring, entertaining, and might even bring
a tear to your eye. It came recommended by my wife...and it's
not a chick flick! Imagine that.

I will only say one more thing about it. It is based on a true story.

New FORUM for EverydayGuy readers only!

I can't quite recall which one of the 3 readers it was
that brought to my attention as to how, say, a former student,
who had happened to miraculously find this blog would go about
contacting me.

Hmmmmm....

As I was thinking about this, this very am, it dawned (no pun intended) on me I should
create a forum as a means for communication. It can be used
not for that purpose but for anyone that would like to just
pop in.

It also allows me to give the blog some features I presently can not
offer using this present form of Blogger. ie. pictures, feedback, comments,
etc.

It makes this thing more interactive. I guess I see it as a
guest log kind of thing.

I will be offering it here:

The EverydayGuy Blog Forum

I think it is a much better way to communicate than email.

Try it out. It's for real people like you and me.
