The POWER of focus

Questions...comments...feedback...Go HERE

What is the greatest barrier to successful progress?

Have you ever thought about what keeps you from being successful?

Let's make a list:

Negative attitudes...stinkin' thinkin'...discouragement...weak self-confidence
...other's opinions...criticism...money -- too little or too much
...education -- too little or to much...IQ...the list goes on.

Reality check. I think I have seen or read of people that overcame
each of the above. They made it (and I am not just referring to
monetary gain) DESPITE their obstacles. As a matter of fact,
they often did not recognize the obstacle until someone on the
outside looking in pointed it out to them.

But there is another, less identified factor, I think, that often
keeps one from moving positively forward...HYPE.

And I really hate this one. I know it has hurt a lot of people,
myself included.

I was thinking about this. Hype is a killer of one's progress,
isn't it? I think hype is nothing but deceivement. Worse, we
all fall for it out of greed.

Hype wastes our time by taking us off course. And falling
for it certainly can drain our finances.

I am not against exciting promotion or creative things that
make our ventures more appealing. But tell it like it is...
with creativity, not deceivement.

Hype is a great barrier to moving forward.

Which brings me to FOCUS

While spending time online and trying to avoid the hype,
I read a comment in a forum that referred to Anthony
Robbin's book Awaken the Giant Within.

Your focus is your reality.

Isn't this true.

I am learning that when things are not going as smoothly
as I'd like, or I find myself feeling frustrated, discouraged...
if I only change my focus, my feelings and direction changes.

Try it.

The hardest part, though, is the last thing I feel
like doing is changing my focus when I most need to.

I realize the need to increase my awareness of the things
going on around me and be cognizant of how they are affecting
my attitude. Its about being stronger and not allowing your
surroundings to have control over you.

A half million

I finished the first article for the website on our areas
best known landmark, Pikes Peak. I am attempting to
add content each week so that by June things are
in place to add an important component to the site.
More on that later in the coming months.

Now here is the interesting part. I shared that the site
debut was a far car from google's top ten. To be exact,
it was at page rank 2,121,394.

By adding that one page, the ranking moved forward
571,716 positions! (presently at 1,609,678) BTW, I
these numbers are from the Alexa tool bar.

Today brings a number of things to do. Working on
adding links that connect from the home page, starting
new content for a couple more pages, patiently learning
a little bit more about Paint Shop Pro 8....

Just have to remember to watch my FOCUS...
