Making Decisions
The past week has been a big one. Although I am sill often
frustrated by the lack of time I seem to find in each day. And
trying to FOCUS on one step at a time with just ONE task
is killin' me!
Regardless, I have made significant progress with my website
OurSprings.com. After much reading and advise seeking, I
concluded that the best way to get it up and running smoothly
and quickly was by pre-made template. Of course, finding
that had proved time consuming. Everyone had an opinion.
And I had to listen to all of them!
Unbelievably stumbled back onto a site I had searched before
and right before my eyes found not just one but numerous
templates that would work...for pennies compared to
what I had been seeing. Best of all, they were structured
in a way that made customization very easy. (BTW, that
company is Allwebco.)
I have the test page just about completed to the point
that I will upload it today. This will be a great step forward
in taking the action of doing that which is not yet in
a perfect format...one of the attributes that has long
kept me from making progress toward the completion
of a project.
You gotta just do it!
I have also made a decision about the use of forums
on the website. Not sure that this one was made with
the right info, but it was made with the intent to keep
stepping forward!
Taking into account bandwidth use, setup, programming,
costs, management, time... I am going to use Network54.
My friend Steve will like that.
I kept going back to a comment he made weeks ago
regarding the simplicity and options Network54
gave him. Another online guy also recently changed
his forum over to this option. It's just seems like a
smart choice for a guy wearing my shoes.
Also purchased Paint Shop Pro 8. It is definitely
an average joe's best option to working with photo
online. Great forum support too.
Having the mathematical learning curve quotient
of negative 27, I found help with putting a banner
together this past week by using one of the
independent support forums online.
I posted my question... which was really an elementary
one for even a beginner using this program. (Regardless,
you have to be willing to ask if you are going to
make progress!)
To be honest, I had the feeling the question might just
be ignored because of its simplistic nature. To me, of
course, it was proving to be a great stumbling block.
I had spent over 3 hours one night (proving the accuracy
of my negative quotient level) trying to use one of the
programs functions!
Talk about frustration.
What happened? And this is one of the BEST things
about the internet! A very helpful person from
the other side of the world posted instructions
how to use one of the tools that would do the very
thing I was trying to do...perfectly.
FINALLY...
One more thing to place on my list of things to do
better...updating this blog a bit more than ONE
time a week!!
