Formal Education is great, but Self Education is most rewarding!
I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the University
of Northern Colorado after graduating high school. My parents did not have
the means to send me but between grants, loans etc. I made my way through
and graduated with a degree in English. That took me into teaching where
I enjoyed a successful career that lasted almost 20 years.
While there is no doubt value in getting an education, I believe it is what
we learn on our own that is of the highest value. I can tell you,
what I have learned since college has been a far greater value to me than
what I learned in college!
Jim Rohn is a well known motivator and positive thinker. He is quoted
as saying, "Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will
make you a fortune."
Think about it.
I can only think of a few areas of study where a college education provides
one with nothing other than a decent JOB.
It seems to me that it is far more important what we do with what we know
far exceeds what we simply know! ie. the credentials that follow our name...

What are we doing with the talents we have? I think that is the standard we
will be accountable for.
Light Bulb Moment
While reading How to Write and Publish your own eBook I am not only learning how to put this whole
thing together, but have found what I believe will make a difference financially
in the thousands.
There is a section of the eBook that discusses how to price your product.
The point is that by setting a higher price will often lead to a greater return
with a lot less volume.
After thinking about this concept, this lead me (in an indirect way) to
re-evaluating how I will market and price another project I have in the works.
I had originally planned to price this service at a low yearly fee at $14.50.
I thought people would jump at the value they would be getting for the
money spent.
Here is what I realized. There would be a higher perceived value if I priced
my service at $4.95 per month subscription fee! That's $59.40 per year.
Huge difference! And the real kicker...I can reach the same level of income
with a lot less success. For example, to reach a 40k income would take
almost three thousand subscribers the first way, only about 700 the second.
I think it will be easier to attain 700 subscriptions at $4.95 per month than
3000 at $14.50 per year.
Perception IS everything!
