Sunday Morning Housecleaning...
OurSprings.com, the web site I am creating about living in
Colorado Springs, is starting to take shape. There were so many obstacles
that presented themselves to me and slowed me down. But things are in
a forward moving gear now.
Content is a priority and today I will get some kind of basic template
together to use for the articles. Planning to put up two today! The
first one being a general description of the Springs, and the other
an article about the city's most famous site...Pike's Peak.
The Our Springs page has been indexed by google! I have read
that Google has indexed 1,326,920,000 web pages. Over a billion!
I am here to announce my sight has debut at number....are you
ready?
2,121,394!!!
Yes faithful readers, that is correct. For my mathematically challenged
friends, that is placement of two million, one hundred twenty-one
thousand, three hundred ninety-four!
I am just excited it was found!
And I like the fact that I have a benchmark to work from. It
is my goal to have the sight show up with a google search for
Colorado Springs on the first page.
I did a search for Colorado Springs and there are over 4,290,000
pages that are found for the word Colorado Springs. The first
5 returns are:
1. Colorado Springs Convention Center
2. The Gazette...the city's newspaper
3. City of Colorado Springs homepage
4. Colorado Springs.com -- a web portal to hundreds of links
5. the Pike's Peak cam
These are my targets.
I used a really cool tool that allows you to see where your sight
ranks in the search results. It is called google rankings.
The problem is it only indexes the page results up to 1,000.
Needless to say that with over 4 million present possibilities,
I have no idea where my site's current listing may be found.
So I have an offer you can't refuse.
It is an exclusive offer for the readers
of the Peak Income Blog only!!
If you have nothing better to do or you hear your teenager
say for the 50th time he or she is bored, find the page ranking
for Our Springs in google.
For the winner I will buy you lunch. LOL Really.
I am anxious to see when and if I can crack the top 1,000
for the search term Colorado Springs...let alone the first page.
If you are still READING....
I have something you really will enjoy!
I am not much of a movie go-er. And even more true is that
very few movies I find are any good.
But here is an exception. Go rent the movie RADIO!
I will only say it is inspiring, entertaining, and might even bring
a tear to your eye. It came recommended by my wife...and it's
not a chick flick! Imagine that.
I will only say one more thing about it. It is based on a true story.
New FORUM for EverydayGuy readers only!
I can't quite recall which one of the 3 readers it was
that brought to my attention as to how, say, a former student,
who had happened to miraculously find this blog would go about
contacting me.
Hmmmmm....
As I was thinking about this, this very am, it dawned (no pun intended) on me I should
create a forum as a means for communication. It can be used
not for that purpose but for anyone that would like to just
pop in.
It also allows me to give the blog some features I presently can not
offer using this present form of Blogger. ie. pictures, feedback, comments,
etc.
It makes this thing more interactive. I guess I see it as a
guest log kind of thing.
I will be offering it here:
The EverydayGuy Blog Forum
I think it is a much better way to communicate than email.
Try it out. It's for real people like you and me.
