Hot off the presses east of Pikes Peak
One of the challenges to overcome with developing a website
is that of getting your visitors to return. As my site, OurSprings
comes together, it is apparent that visitor returns will
be the key indicator of its success.
I am doing some thinking about this. What can I do/provide
on the site that will result in a first time visitor having the
kind of impression which guarantees them coming back.
So far, these are some of my ideas:
* interesting content articles
* local interviews of community members
* a picture of the week
* coverage of events...differentiated from the main stream
publications
* development of the community forums
* consistent, regular updates
* ???
What kind of things would bring YOU back? If you have
a suggestion, I would like to hear about it. Drop by
the EDG forum and post it there. I would appreciate it.
Speaking of Forums
If you are looking for an inspiring and motivating place,
I can highly recommend a forum just begun by Martin Avis
called Kickstart Your Life.
It has become one of my favorite places to check out on a
regular basis. Martin Avis is one of those guys that always
has a unique, refreshing view on life.
For example, we've all heard the expression today is the first
day of the rest of your life. So much so that I think it has
lost any meaning. Avis suggests that a better way to think
about this is:
Today is the BEST day of my life!
Now that is more true!
Each day is another gift...no matter the challenges or
circumstances we face. Just consider the alternative!
When you think about it, personal challenges actually
make life more interesting, as long as we set our outlook
appropriately.
Seeing each day as the BEST day of our life really
does change things.
On the agenda
I am going to finally get the Incline story/pics page
completed today. I am nearing clearing up the bad links
and am thinking with the addition of a little more content,
I will begin to promote the web site (on a small scale)
in the Colorado Springs community. Kind of a test
for feedback, etc.
....and remembering today is the best! It really is, isn't?
